Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee: Sukanta Banik Chowdhury, Paschim Bardhaman, Positive Barta: The long-awaited Shibpur Bridge over the Ajay River in Birbhum is finally set to be inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Tomorrow, July 29th, will mark this historic moment for the entire Paschim Bardhaman and Birbhum districts. Even before the official inauguration, a massive crowd gathered at Darjeeling More in Durgapur on Sunday to welcome the Chief Minister. Thousands thronged the streets of Durgapur, creating a festive atmosphere.
The welcoming ceremony saw the presence of numerous public representatives and dignitaries, including Narendranath Chakraborty, MLA from Pandaveswar in Paschim Bardhaman district. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s arrival has brought a celebratory mood to the entire area.
The new Shibpur Bridge is expected to not only facilitate faster communication between Paschim Bardhaman and Bankura districts with Birbhum but also significantly strengthen the transport system across several districts of the state, according to administrative expectations. The bridge’s role in boosting economic and social ties between Birbhum district and industrial hubs like Durgapur and Asansol, as well as other districts in South Bengal, is considered immense.
The administration believes that the inauguration of this bridge marks a new chapter in the state’s developmental projects. Several state ministers, administrative officials, and distinguished guests will accompany the Chief Minister during the inauguration tomorrow.
