Indian Army Strengthened as First Batch of BrahMos Missiles Inaugurated from Lucknow Facility

Indian Army Strengthened: The BrahMos missile, which reportedly disrupted Pakistan’s peace during ‘Operation Sindoor’ with its powerful supersonic strike capability, is set for its first batch delivery from Uttar Pradesh. This significant milestone was marked on October 18, a Saturday, in a ceremony attended by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh.

The Lucknow BrahMos Facility

The BrahMos Aerospace Unit is situated in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, and was established with an investment of ₹300 crore. This factory is a joint venture between India and Russia to produce the highly effective missile. Initially, the goal was to manufacture 80-100 missiles annually, a target later increased to 150 missiles per year.

The unit is not solely dedicated to missile production; it also serves as a center for testing and final quality assessment of the aerospace components.

Strengthening India’s Defence and Export Ambitions

The first batch delivery from the Lucknow facility took place on Dhanteras (October 18, Saturday). The production at this facility is not only focused on meeting India’s domestic defence needs but also on manufacturing BrahMos missiles for export. India is determined to carve out a new market in the global armaments trade for weapons export.
