Joint Toppers Pritam Ballav and Aditya Narayan Jana from the Same School Reveal the Discipline Behind Their Success

Joint Toppers: Pritam Ballav and Aditya Narayan Jana, both students of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia, have jointly secured the top position in the Higher Secondary (HS) Third Semester examinations, illuminating their school’s name with their outstanding achievement. The duo, who are also classmates and friends, both scored an impressive 98.97%, placing them at the pinnacle of the merit list. Their success is a direct result of their unwavering discipline and rigorous study regimen from the very beginning.

Overwhelmed by Success

Upon the announcement of the results, both Pritam and Aditya expressed their excitement and surprise.

Pritam Ballav admitted, “I was very excited when the first name was announced. I didn’t realize it would be my name. I was hoping for good results, but I never expected it to be this good, to actually secure the first rank. Our teachers are even happier than we are.”

Aditya Narayan Jana echoed the sentiment of disbelief and joy: “When I first heard it, I couldn’t believe it. Firstly, I felt great. To be honest, we did expect it somewhat. Our teachers are even happier than us. The Maharaj had high hopes for us. I have been studying here since Class Five, and this is now Class Twelve. Throughout, we’ve always had strict rules for everything, alongside discipline. Everything we needed to do daily was taught alongside our routine… and we continued our studies with that. The same strict routine holds now, even in Class Twelve.”

The Winning Routine

The two high achievers revealed the methodical and disciplined schedule that underpinned their success:

Morning Ritual: Pritam detailed a day starting with waking up for bhajan (devotional singing). After bhajan, they would have a meal in the dining hall, followed by a study session.

School & Leisure: After the morning study, they would bathe, eat again, and then attend school until 4:30 PM. This was followed by a snack and then time for sports and games.

Evening Study: The evening would begin with another bhajan session. This was followed by the main study session of the evening.

Late Night Focus: Dinner was at 9:00 PM, after which the students would continue studying until 12:00-12:30 AM. Pritam mentioned, “We could study on our own as late as we wanted.”

This routine, built around strict adherence to discipline, school activities, and dedicated study time, proved to be the key to their joint triumph.

The First-Ever Semester System Results

The announcement of their success coincided with the release of the results for the first-ever phase of the Higher Secondary examinations in the state. West Bengal is the first state in the country to introduce the semester system for HS, with exams held twice a year. The results for the first semester were declared on a Friday after 39 days, recording a pass percentage of 93.72%. The merit list for the top ten includes 69 candidates, three of whom are female students.

The remarkable achievement of Pritam Ballav and Aditya Narayan Jana stands as a testament to the fact that discipline, consistency, and a structured routine are indispensable ingredients for academic excellence.
